More pics of Baby J
Julia was having lunch at my house yesterday when we decided to pack up the babies and run out to snap some photos. I realized I wasn't really prepared when we got to the park, but we had fun anyways and made do with what we had! At least I remembered the camera. Yes, when I was pregnant I was driving to a photo shoot about 45 minutes away and was half way there when I remembered the camera (still at home by the door where I left it)! I blame the hormones!

Baby J turned four months old this week, and his smile just keeps getting bigger and bigger! Congrats, Julia, on having survived so far!

I love this one! I wonder what he was thinking when he made that face!

This last one of Kyla was Julia's idea, and I think it turned out cute!

More pics of Kyla
I feel like I've neglected Kyla lately when it comes to pictures, and I'm sure she appreciates it. This week, however, was different. We tried to take some photos at Pilcher Park on Friday, but those didn't turn out very well. I couldn't seem to find a place to put her where there weren't a million things for her to grab and chew, so I dragged Brian out to a park near home on Saturday. Other then the grass that's in her mouth for just about every picture, I think these ones turned out pretty well. I wonder sometimes, though, if I only think that because she's my own!

This first one is from Friday. I probably have 200 photos just like this!

This was my favorite "funny" picture (and I usually get lots from Kyla)! It's the classic "this makes me gag!" sign!

One more try...
I took photos of this beautiful little girl and her sister last week, but the weather wasn't ideal. She had also just learned to walk and would not sit still! This time I brought a Bumbo seat to contain her, and it did the trick! I got to bring Kyla along too, but I haven't looked at her pictures yet. I promise more to come later!

I had to include this one since it made me laugh so hard (of course, that could be because it's 2:30 in the morning)! I call this one "Dancing Baby." This looks like a move my husband would try (and don't anyone tell him I said that)!
The rained out wedding
I was David and Gwyn's photographer for their wedding last Saturday. I was so excited to do their pictures because we had plans to head out to the gorgeous little garden at the Joseph and Sarah Levy Senior Center in Bolingbrook, but then it rained. :~(

Now, I know some of you are saying "Senior Center? For pictures?" but trust me, it's a great little place!

Unfortunately, the rain let up and the sun came out just minutes before the (indoor) ceremony began and then it started to pour again just minutes before the ceremony ended. So, David and Gwyn, the offer for a re-shoot still stands! I know your wedding party can't come, but I also know you really wanted those pictures (and so did I)!

Now, what should I say about this great couple (if you're still reading and not just scrolling down to the pictures!) Hopefully none of my other couples will take offense to this, but I think David and Gwyn are my favorites so far. They went through the day very much "in the moment" and into each other. And, they went out of their way to offer me cake (having read some of my previous posts)! I, of course, didn't eat any as I was too busy running around, but one of these days I will!

This was a couple that didn't need to be told to kiss!

I loved the true cake smashing going on! It's so rare to see that anymore.

I'm sorry, David, but when I saw this photo I just had to laugh. I don't know that I've ever known someone who could do this with their tongue, and I knew you'd be a good sport about it! :~)

This is the piece that should have been mine!

I swear it's the hottest week of the year. Never have I looked so bad while out on a photo shoot!

This little guy was lots of fun today. He has a great smile, and he posed so well for pictures. I just wish we could have gotten his older (and much more beautiful) sister in on some of the action. :~) Next time, Jen, I won't let you say no!

I photographed these two cuties today at the Pilcher Park Nature Center in Joliet where there is a beautiful greenhouse and garden. The youngest started walking a week ago, and we couldn't get her to sit still for anything! It was hot, humid and very sunny, but these two did so well. They were little troopers who lasted longer than most kids their ages.

A typical photo shoot with Kyla...
...looks something like this. If she's looking at the camera she's making a face. She's not even a year old yet, and she's figured out the fastest way to get me to stop taking pictures.

I'm thinking of putting these up in my studio if for no other reason than to convince parents that all kids do this ,that not every photo from their session will be perfect (or awful), and that sometimes the best pictures aren't planned! In some ways these are my favorite shots yet!

Back to work
Monday I went back to work and finished up Drew's senior portraits at the Naperville Riverwalk (one of my favorite places to take pics). It was a beautiful day, and we enjoyed ourselves, but I definitely worsened what's shaping up to be my worst farmer's tan ever!

Good luck this year, Drew.
