I'm a tourist with a camera just like anyone else!
Brian and I took Kyla up north to stay with Grandma and Grandpa and then we left to go up to Mackinaw City and Mackinac Island for our anniversary. It was a first for us (leaving Kyla overnight with someone, not the going away on a trip part)! It was nice to have a break from photographing people. Y'all are lots of fun to shoot, but let's face reality. Buildings don't move, and flowers aren't camera shy!

The Wings of Mackinac Butterfly Conservatory (another cool stop on our trip!)
Brian and I went to this great little butterfly conservatory on Mackinac Island called the Wings of Mackinac. These butterflies are flown in from Costa Rica on a regular basis (butterflies only live about 3-10 days). You get to walk around and observe and snap pics while they're flying around everywhere. To quote Brian's new favorite TV commercial, "I underestimated the creepiness." I'm not a bug person, but it was worth it for these shots.

My new workspace!
I've been promising pictures of my new workspace, and here they finally are! Many thanks go out to my Brian, my parents (especially my dad), my inlaws, Casey, JT, and everyone else who had their part in helping me get this room done! It's been done for a while, but I just put enough of the finishing touches on it to share it with everyone else!

I can't believe I'm actually letting Brian share this space with me!

My new monitor that I got for a steal on ebay is the only "toy"I have that Brian is jealous of! His electronics far out weigh mine!

I just finished my wall pf photos last night! I'm pretty happy with it.

I think Kyla loves having this huge space to "walk" around in with her walker!

Baby J, Kyla, & Drew
I was busy today, and it was fun!

First I took some photos of Baby J (again)! He has the same problem that Kyla had at that age: he closes his eyes and sticks out his tongue when he smiles!

I had to break out the basket again just for fun!

Next I snapped a few of Kyla. I just can't resist those beautiful blue eyes! Plus she makes the funniest faces!

Finally, I took a few formal photos for Drew's senior portraits. We plan to follow up with some fun and casual outdoor shots soon, but we had to get this one in for his mom!

Jim & Erin downtown!
Yesterday I finally got to do more engagement pictures in downtown Chicago. We went out by the Adler Planetarium to take advantage of the city's skyline. The weather was definitely fickle. It was sunny one moment and the next it was cloudy, but the worst was the wind. (I know! It's the Windy City!) In some shots we just gave up and gave in! Let's just say that I have a lot of photos of these two that I don't think they'll want anyone to see!

All in all it was a fun day. Plus, I got to take a friend along to help and then go shopping with on Michigan Ave. Thanks for your help, Deb! I'd rather browse Crate & Barrel with you than Brian any day!

Let me just say that this day also gave me my first taxi ride ever! I know that sounds like such a lame thing to get excited about, but we've been to so many cities and always been too cheap to spring for a taxi! We're subway people. And if no train is around, we walk!

Baby J & Kyla
Baby J came over today with his mom. He didn't really want to have his picture taken, so we put him up on mom's shoulder where he was happy. I got a couple gems like this one below of him pouting. Hopefully next week will go better.

I also took a couple pics of Kyla when we were done. I can't believe she's starting to develop such a bad comb over!

Joe & Renee
My last May wedding has finally come and gone. I can breathe a sigh of relief and relax for a while (well, once I finish proofing the hundreds of photos that is)! One thing is for sure: I won't be booking that many weddings in a month ever again (I hope)! I'm tired!

That being said, this wedding was yet another beautiful event. The cake was gorgeous, and I'm sure it tasted good, though once again, I didn't get any. I also really loved how everything at the reception was displayed. I especially loved the topiaries on the candy table!

Overall, it was a fun day! The two huge families of the bride and groom were fun to be around, and they had so many beautiful children. Another first for me was seeing so many beautiful children walk down the aisle and be so well behaved! Even the babies did incredibly well!
